MEANINGFUL DAY OPTIONS SMEM’s Meaningful Day Options are centered on the individual choices and desires of our participants. These options are designed to be based on individual choice, among options integrated throughout the community. |

The program also focuses on the basic needs of the people we serve, helping them maintain good health and making appropriate choices. Individuals are respected and supported, and person centered planning empowers them to set and achieve their personal goals and preferences. |

Skill development and maturation occur at many levels, which our staff assist program participants in attaining. As an example, some individuals focus on self help skills which include personal hygiene, eating, and inter personal relationships. Others may be involved in gaining control over their physical environments, how to cross the street safely, how to use the bus or taxi system, or how to navigate a store. |

Many community resources are used and accessed by our program consumers on a daily basis. Local small businesses, pet stores, animal shelters, health spas, swimming pools, ski resorts, horseback riding programs and summer camps are just a few examples of the variety and diversity of the community resources accessed by the participants. |
